How SKHosting makes it easy
We provide a pre-hosted package. All you need will be to choose your website name. Once the website is hosted(few minutes job), people can register in the website and start using it. Few members can be assigned managers role. These people can basically edit/add content to the website.
Adding content is easy. The entire website is divided into pages and each page is divided into sections. Managers(only) will see edit buttons for each section. Clicking on it will bring up an editor like your microsoft word using which you can add content. The editor has lots of buttons to completely control the appearence of your content - fonts, font sizing, text positioning, colors, hihglighting, adding links, adding images, smileys... just to name a few. The editor is extremely simple and any body can add/edit content without needing any html, css or any other technical knowlledge.

Few features
1. User registration and restricted content

Few pages like home page, contacts, rentals, FAQs etc are open to public. But other pages like noticeboard, forum, members list, accounts etc will be accessible only to the registered members.

2. Rentals section for rental ads.
Rentals page provide an easy means for owners to publish rental ads. Registered memebers can add and remove personal rental ads and any body can read these rental ads. In case of appartments with front desk staff, they can use this to guide people enquiring about rentals in case of flats.

3. Members list with customizable visibility policy for each member.
Members list usually displays the list of members registered with the web site and their details. Each member can choose what details to be displayed and what to be hidden.

4. Full fledged forum
The forun provides a common blackboard where every member can post messages. Latest 5 posts will always be visible in the main noticeboard page, making sure every body sees the latest posts.

5. Minutes archieval facility
A special minutes of meeting section provides add/edit buttons to the managers. Whenever new minutes are added, they are automatically archieved in to the database. The documents page will contain links to previous minutes making referencing of earlier minutes easier.

6. Mailing facility for group mailing.
If your association has a group mailing id, the website can be used to write emails to the group with custom template (formatting) applied.

7. Website data security.
All data storage including user details are stored in MYSQL database and periodically backed up.

Need an idea what's involved to do it on your own?
To create/host a website involves the following basic minimum steps
 a. Acquire a domain name or web site address like "google.com".
 b. Designing and creating the website customized for your requirements.
 c. Hosting your website in a server and make it visible in internet.
 d. Maintaining the website and updating it periodically when needed.

a. Acquiring a domain name need to be done by paying a domain name provider and renewing it each year.

b. The design part is the complicated side. There are two types of websites based on content.
Websites with static content- These are comparitively simpler and are based on simple html files. Designing is easier and comparitively less costly.
Websites with dynamic content- These are expensive to design. The web pages are generated dynamically for every web page request and sent to your browser. Such technology is required for advanced features like logging in, database driven storage, forums etc. These are costler due to extensive server side programming requierements.
c. Hosting the website in a server depends on whether the website has static content or dynamic content. Static content is easier and cheaper to host. Hosting dynamic content is more costly as it requires more capable servers with support for database, perl, php... etc.

d. Maintaining the website is not easy as it can sound to be. E.g. For an association websie, you will need to frequently update meeting minutes, add new notices, news etc. Just typing in contents won't be sufficient. You will need html/CSS skills to add in content to your web pages. Not so easy to learn in a day or a week :)
